The Euganean Hills

The surroundings of Padua stretch on a wide area of the Regional Park of the Euganean Hills: from the thermal area of Abano and Montegrotto, to the Benedictine Abbey in Praglia, then to Arquà Pertarca with its inner town, the house and the tomb of the famous Poet, to Este with its inner town, the Atestino National Archeological Museum, the Marquis Castle and the Cathedral, to the Camaldolese Abbey in Carceri, through Monselice with its inner town, the Cini’s Castle, the  old Cathedral and the pilgrimage route of the “Sanctuary of the Seven Churches” with Villa Duodo, and finally to Montagnana , with its nearly intact medieval walls, with the fortified gates: Rocca degli Alberi and Ezzelino’s Tower, the inner city, the Archeological Museum, the Cathedral and Villa Pisani.

 

This itinerary comprises the wide variety characterising the Regional Park of the Euganean Hills among nature, art, literature, poetry, vegetation, walled towns and relax.

The Venetian Villas along the Brenta Riviera

An itinerary to retrace the very popular Venetian vacation, when members of the Venetian upper class used to leave their town-palaces and spend their Summer vacations in their country villas.

The following villas can be visited: Villa Foscari also called “La Malcontenta-The Unhappy” in Malcontenta (Mira), Barchessa Valmarana in Riscossa (Mira), Villa Widmann Foscari-Rezzonico in Riscossa (Mira), Villa Pisani in Stra, Villa Foscarini-Rossi in Stra and Villa Contarini in Piazzola sul Brenta.

The walled towns

An itinerary to discover the walled towns which had been  built in order to protect the Northern and Southern borders of the Paduan territory against attacks.

Cittadella: with its surrounding walls and panoramic route, Museum housed in the Malta Tower, Cathedral, Praetorian Palace and Theatre; Monselice with its surrounding walls,  inner city,  Cini’s Castle,  old Cathedral and the pilgrimage route of the “Sanctuary of the seven Churches” with Villa Duodo from the outside. Este: with the Marquis Castle,  Atestino Archeological National Museum and  Cathedral dedicated to Saint Tecla. Montagnana: with its nearly intact medieval walls, with the fortified gates:  Rocca degli Alberi and Ezzelino’s Tower,  inner city,  Archeological Museum,  Cathedral and  Villa Pisani.
